A Kohler Summer, Built for Golf

Prepared for: _______________________________

Kohler isn't just a golf resort, it's Wisconsin's answer to a five-star European retreat: four Pete Dye championship courses carved along Lake Michigan and the Sheboygan River, a Forbes Five-Star spa, and a private 500-acre wilderness club, all built around a historic hotel that's spent over a century perfecting hospitality. It's the kind of place that earns the word legendary honestly, watch the aerial view below and you'll see why.

Twelve of you, one long-overdue trip, and a course list that actually earns the flight. You told us what mattered: real golf, everyone in their own room, and a summer week that doesn't leave anyone wiping sweat off their scorecard by the ninth hole. That combination pointed us here.

We've put together two ways to build the week. Both solve for everything above; where they differ is pace, and how much golf you want packed into it.

Option One: The Full Week

Four nights. Five rounds. A real bucket-list week.

Estimated investment: toward the higher end of $2,500–$5,000 per person, all-in.

This is the full run of Kohler's championship golf: The Straits and The Irish at Whistling Straits, The River and Meadow Valleys at Blackwolf Run, and a relaxed closing round on The Baths. We've built in a full rest day in the middle of the week: fly-fishing and long-range shooting at River Wildlife, Kohler's private 500-acre preserve, capped with dinner at the lodge. It's the day the group actually needed, not an afterthought.

Why it fits:

  • Every marquee course, none skipped
  • A genuine recovery day built into the schedule, not squeezed in
  • Kohler's Forbes Five-Star spa on property, whenever anyone wants to sit a round out

Worth knowing: The Straits, one round in the week, is walked rather than driven. It's the course everyone comes for, and in Kohler's mild summer weather it's a very different proposition than it would be somewhere hotter. Every other round, a cart's available. The four nights here is a starting point, not a fixed number, we can stretch or trim it once we know what works for the group's calendar.

Option Two: The Balanced Three

Three nights. Four rounds. Every marquee course, less downtime.

Estimated investment: mid-range within $2,500–$5,000 per person, all-in.

All four championship courses, no rest day built in. The Straits and The Irish each get their own day, since The Straits is walked and deserves the full focus without anything stacked on top of it. The River and Meadow Valleys share a day at Blackwolf Run, both cart courses at the same clubhouse, so pairing them is a lighter lift than it sounds.

Why it fits:

  • Every championship course played, nothing skipped
  • A full day shorter than the complete week, without dropping a single round
  • Only one day of doubled-up golf, and it's the cart-friendly pair, not the walking one

Worth knowing: there's no built-in rest day here, this trades the Reel & Rifle afternoon from the full week for a tighter schedule. Everyone's still off their feet for two of the four rounds. As with every option here, three nights is a starting point, not a locked number, add a day if the group wants more breathing room.

Option Three: The Streamlined Weekend

Two nights. Three rounds. Cart the whole way.

Estimated investment: toward the lower end of $2,500–$5,000 per person, all-in.

A tighter trip built entirely around Blackwolf Run's two courses, The River and Meadow Valleys, played twice between the group. Every round here allows a cart, so there's no walking requirement anywhere in the week. Less time away, less cost, same championship-caliber golf.

Why it fits:

  • A shorter, easier trip to get twelve schedules to line up around
  • Every round rideable, no walking requirement at all
  • A lower overall cost for the same caliber of golf

Worth knowing: this itinerary doesn't include The Straits, the course most people picture when they picture Kohler. That's the trade for a faster, easier week. Two nights is the minimum for this structure, not a ceiling, we can extend it if the group wants more time on the ground.

What's the Same Either Way

  • Twelve separate rooms at The American Club or Inn on Woodlake; no one shares
  • A Wisconsin summer, not a Caribbean one, comfortably warm instead of oppressive
  • Every detail, including final pricing, confirmed directly with the resort before anything is booked

Where You'll Eat

Four kitchens worth planning around, not just refueling at.

  • The Immigrant Restaurant & Winery Bar: the closing-night pick. AAA Four-Diamond, Forbes Four-Star, six historic dining rooms, a chef's tasting menu. Jackets encouraged, no shorts or athletic wear.
  • The Wisconsin Room: farm-to-table and a little more relaxed, the right call for a regular night in.
  • Whistling Straits Restaurant: clubhouse dining with Lake Michigan views, best right after playing The Straits.
  • Blackwolf Run Restaurant: a rustic grill overlooking the courses, an easy post-round stop on River or Meadow Valleys days.

Kohler Waters Spa

A Forbes Five-Star spa, right on property, with a golfer's massage actually on the menu. Worth booking for anyone sitting out a round, or just unwinding after one.
